Buckhorn Campground to Cooper Canyon

5-mile round trip.
900 ft. elevation loss and gain

Directions to Trailhead:   Drive up Angeles Crest Hwy. to Buckhorn campground (marker 58.02) 34 miles from La Canada, and ½ mile past Mt. Waterman ski area.  Turn left into Buckhorn campground and follow the road through the campground to the hikers parking area.  Do not park in the camping area.  Important Change Regarding Parking

The Hike:   Take the Burkhart trail from the north end of the parking area down the canyon.  Along the left slope, follow this trail as it descends through pine and cedar into Cooper Canyon, where you will intersect the Cooper Canyon trail.  For 1.75 miles take the right fork and follow it for ¼ mile in and around Cooper Falls, to Little Rock Creek.

Here the Burkhart trail intersects the Rattlesnake Trail leading up Little Rock Creek to the Angeles Crest Hwy.  Take it or return the way you came ... up hill.
